85–90°C dry heat · Included in every session

Finnish Sauna

Haven’s Finnish sauna has been built to deliver a deeper, softer and more comfortable style of heat.

Running between 85–90°C, it creates that classic dry sauna intensity while still feeling smooth and breathable. The difference is in the way the heat moves through the room, the way the steam rises from the stones, and the way your body settles into the space.

It’s included in every 90-minute Haven session alongside the steam room, ice bath and heated magnesium mineral pool.

Inside the Finnish sauna at Haven Wellness

The heat

Built to produce real löyly

Löyly is the soul of a Finnish sauna. It’s the soft wave of heat and steam that rolls through the room when water meets properly heated stones.

At Haven, the sauna has been designed to create a consistent, enveloping heat that feels deep without feeling aggressive. The result is a sauna experience that is intense, calming and restorative all at once.

Saunum commercial heater

Haven uses a Saunum luxury commercial heater, designed to distribute heat evenly throughout the sauna and create a softer, more balanced löyly. This helps the warmth feel full and consistent, rather than sharp or overpowering.

Saunum Autoleil system

Our automated water dispensing system releases water onto the stones at controlled intervals, helping maintain consistent humidity and löyly throughout your session. This keeps the sauna experience smooth, steady and deeply relaxing.

Active smart ventilation

The sauna is supported by active smart ventilation, helping fresh air move through the room while maintaining heat and comfort. This keeps the space feeling cleaner, lighter and easier to settle into, even at higher temperatures.

Every session includes the sauna.

The science

The health effects of regular sauna use

Finnish sauna culture has been studied more extensively than almost any other wellness practice, partly because Finns have been doing it consistently for long enough to generate meaningful long-term data. Here’s what the research shows.

Cardiovascular health

A 20-year study from the University of Eastern Finland following over 2,000 men found that sauna use 4–7 times per week was associated with significantly reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, an effect comparable to moderate aerobic exercise. The mechanism involves repeated heat-induced increases in heart rate, which the body adapts to over time.

Muscle recovery

Heat increases blood flow to muscle tissue and reduces the tension that accumulates from exercise or prolonged sitting. A sauna session after physical activity measurably reduces next-day soreness and improves range of motion. It works best followed by cold, the contrast between the sauna and the ice bath is where recovery accelerates most.

Deep sweating

The skin is the body’s largest organ and one of its primary routes for eliminating waste. At sauna temperatures, the body produces significantly more sweat than during exercise, flushing the pores and supporting the liver and kidneys in clearing metabolic byproducts. The post-sauna shower clears what’s been drawn to the surface.

Stress and mental clarity

Heat exposure lowers cortisol and triggers the release of endorphins and growth hormone. The sauna environment, warm, quiet, without a screen in sight, is one of the few places most people genuinely switch off. Many regular sauna users describe the mental clarity that follows a session as one of its most reliable effects.

Sleep

Body temperature naturally drops in the evening as a signal to the brain that it’s time to sleep. The post-sauna cool-down, especially when followed by cold immersion, accelerates this temperature drop and deepens the sleep that follows. Session days tend to be noticeably better sleep nights.

Immune support

Regular sauna use has been associated with reduced frequency of common colds and respiratory infections. The elevated body temperature mimics a mild fever response, which may stimulate white blood cell production. This is one of the older traditional beliefs about saunas that more recent research has started to validate.

Note: if you have a cardiovascular condition, are pregnant, or are on medication that affects your heat response, check with your doctor before using the sauna. Most people are fine; it’s worth confirming if you have any relevant history.

GET THE INTRO OFFER

Getting the most from the sauna

The Finnish sauna works best as part of a circuit: heat, cold, rest, repeat. Here’s the approach most experienced bathers use.

Löyly rising from the hot stones in the Haven Finnish sauna
01

Start lower, move higher

Heat rises, so the upper benches are significantly hotter. If you’re new to high-temperature saunas, start on the lower bench and move up as you acclimatise. You want to be comfortably sweating, not gasping.

02

Stay for 10–15 minutes per round

That’s roughly the right window for one heat cycle. Less and you’ve barely begun to sweat; much more and you’re diminishing returns. Two to three rounds across a session is typical.

03

Follow with cold

Moving directly from the sauna to Haven’s ice bath is where the physiological benefit compounds. The contrast, hot to cold, drives circulation harder than either alone. Even a few minutes in cold water after the sauna produces a noticeably different result than sauna alone.

04

Rest between rounds

Sit quietly, drink water, let your body come back to neutral before returning. The rest interval isn’t wasted time, it’s when the body consolidates the heat response.
